Buyer 2 - Nuclear Fuel Services - Erwin, TN

SUMMARY OF DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

This position is responsible for obtaining materials and supplies at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source, and urgency of need. Carries out broad assignments usually involving the purchase of important items requiring some specialized knowledge and experience. Responsible for heavier dollar volume of purchases (than Buyer I).

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Procure material commodities at the lowest cost consistent with total quality procurement programs in support of company requirements.
  • Studies market trends, interviews vendors, and recommends sources of supply.
  • Analyzes quotations received, selects and determines suppliers with whom orders are to be placed, and schedules deliveries.
  • Supervises preparation of orders and follows up on orders to ensure delivery and shipment.
  • Recommends uniform standards of specifications for purchased materials.
  • Negotiates material blanket purchase agreements consistent with the needs of the company.
  • Maintains and promotes long term, mutually beneficial and ethical supplier relationships.
  • Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

    • B. S. or B. A.
    • Six to eight years experience
    • Purchasing and materials management experience specifically varied commodity/material buying.
    • Equivalent experience acceptable (Negotiating and material management experience required. Eight years experience equivalent to 4-year degree.)

    The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
