SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF JOB:┬ ┬ ┬ ┬ ┬ ┬ ┬ ┬ ┬ ┬

Directs the daily activities of the security department through direct oversight of the various security disciplines (operations, training, compliance, and technical DOE concerns). Directs and mentors the managers and┬ ┬ supervisors within the department to ensure regulatory compliance and performance excellence. Interacts and communicates with primary customers and other outside law enforcement and security agencies to ensure┬ necessary support and preparedness for off normal conditions. Provides leadership and direction to the contract┬ security force to ensure that the objectives and commitments of the security department are accomplished in a professional and efficient manner. Provides project support and consultation to the various NFS departments to ensure that their goals and objectives can be effectively achieved within the regulatory security framework.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implements the physical protection program at NFS through oversight and mentoring to meet the stringent┬ regulatory requirements of NRC and DOE and to achieve the company objectives for performance excellence.

  • Provides direction and oversight to the security compliance discipline to ensure the commitments set forth in┬ the Physical Protection Plan and the code of federal regulations are effectively achieved.

  • Provides direction and oversight to the security operations discipline to ensure that daily activities necessary┬ to support the NFS operational objectives are carried out efficiently and effectively.

  • Provides direction and oversight to the security training discipline to ensure that the commitments set forth in┬ the Training and Qualifications Plan and the Security Contingency Response Plan are effectively achieved.

  • Provides direction and oversight to the technical security discipline to ensure that the commitments set forth┬ in the Safeguards and Security Manual (DOE Orders and Standards) are effectively achieved.

  • Establishes the specific department goals and objectives within the regulatory environment to exceed┬ performance criteria and tracks set forth goals and objectives for progress and completion.

  • Establishes, implements, and maintains the security department operating budget that allows for adequate┬ funding to meet department objectives and commitments while fostering a culture of cost consciousness.

  • Establishes the department framework, to include interview and selection of personnel, to ensure that adequate┬ staffing levels are maintained to meet the commitments set forth in the various security plans and procedures and┬ conducts performance evaluations to motivate personnel to meet and exceed set forth department objectives.

  • Represents NFS through personal contacts with customers, new business prospects, government agencies,┬ and other outside agencies to foster relationships that will benefit NFS and protect the Company's best interest.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Management, or other Behavioral Science.

  • At least┬ ten years experience leading,┬ managing, planning, and directing work of a multi-discipline organization.

Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Position requires U.S. Citizenship (with no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test and previous employment reference verifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
